Why our senior colleagues are not directly investing back into the industry like their colleagues in Nollywood ? Majeed Suhuniyi writes: A lot of the time I think hard about why our senior colleagues are not directly investing back into the industry like their colleagues in Nollywood and different woods.  Is it that they don't have enough resources to invest back into the industry? By now we should have had a solid production like Funke Akindele's, A buzzing production like Ramsey Noah's etc I believe the pace setters are power houses individually, having them as producers/directors could change the industry for good.  However, they might have valid reasons for not delving into production. Kudos to the senior actors in Ghana who are doing their best by becoming industry employers Yvonne Nelson, Nadia Buari, Kafui Danku and etc. May your investments yield times 5. We know it's not easy. To my fellow young lads, if we want to keep this industry working, we need to start t...

The system is designed to keep you occupied, distracted, and trapped in a cycle of mediocrity.  Writen by: Aklahyel Goni Listen up, Men! “Let’s build a system to keep them busy! That way, they will forget about their dreams and life goals!” That’s the game, and too many of you are falling right into it. The system is designed to keep you occupied, distracted, and trapped in a cycle of mediocrity. They want you running on a hamster wheel, chasing paychecks and promotions, while you forget the fire that once drove you—the dreams, the goals, the ambitions you had before the world shoved you into a box. Wake the hell up! If you feel like you’re stuck, spinning in circles, it’s because that’s exactly where they want you. Trapped, docile, and too busy to think. If you want to live a life that hasn’t been lived, you can’t follow the default path. The system has already laid out a blueprint for you from birth: go to school, get a job, clock in, clock out, retire, die. That’s the plan for t...

Vice President Dr. Bawumia must not misinform Ghanaians on the Creative Arts Agency Setup - FOCAP  Listening to Vice President Dr Bawumia at his media engagement  on 25th August 2024, he categorically stated that his government has indeed set up the Creative Arts Agency, but FOCAP can authoritatively tell Bawumia that it’s NOT TRUE. Yes, the bill has been passed into law since 2020, and to date, those in that office are all ILLEGAL since they haven’t been appointed by anyone to run the Agency. In fact the only workers there are 2, the President’s daughter Gyankroma who acted as executive secretary in 2016 but her position became null and void after Act 1048,(Creative Arts lndustry act ) 2020 was passed into law and recently they added Frank Owusu as ACTING DEPUTY EXECUTIVE SECRETARY and therefore NOBODY is Legally working in an Official position there. Indeed,  Deputy Minister Mark Okraku just last week confirmed that nobody currently in that office is Legal. If the Vice ...

FOCAP Picketing scheduled for 29th August 2024

Image
FOCAP Picketing scheduled for 29th August 2024  Politicians have promised and failed the Creative Industry for years, and as a pressure group it’s the responsibility of FOCAP to hold these leaders accountable. Act 1048 was passed into law in 2020 and mandates the President to appoint an Executive Secretary and inaugurate the board within a year.  It’s been 3years and none of this has been done. Due to all these delays the FUND incorporated in the Act cannot be established and assessed, leaving the creative practitioners poor.  Indeed, the Ministry met with the Leadership of FOCAP, and even though they showed some work done so far, it did not directly address the demands of the Establishment of A BOARD and EXECUTIVE SECRETARY. As part of our Civic Rights as citizens of Ghana and Creative Arts Practitioners, members of FOCAP and the Creative community will hit the streets of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on the 29th of August 2024 to demand for the immedia...
