Vice President Dr. Bawumia must not misinform Ghanaians on the Creative Arts Agency Setup - FOCAP 

Listening to Vice President Dr Bawumia at his media engagement  on 25th August 2024, he categorically stated that his government has indeed set up the Creative Arts Agency, but FOCAP can authoritatively tell Bawumia that it’s NOT TRUE.

Yes, the bill has been passed into law since 2020, and to date, those in that office are all ILLEGAL since they haven’t been appointed by anyone to run the Agency.

In fact the only workers there are 2, the President’s daughter Gyankroma who acted as executive secretary in 2016 but her position became null and void after Act 1048,(Creative Arts lndustry act ) 2020 was passed into law and recently they added Frank Owusu as ACTING DEPUTY EXECUTIVE SECRETARY and therefore NOBODY is Legally working in an Official position there. Indeed,  Deputy Minister Mark Okraku just last week confirmed that nobody currently in that office is Legal.

If the Vice President cares to know the Setting Up of the Creative Arts Agency consists of a BOARD and Executive Secretary and non of them have been appointed or nominated and this is why FOCAP will be picketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on Thursday 29th August 2024.

It’s either the Vice President was lied to, or he has absolutely no idea what is going on under his government . Where from this Misinformation from the second  gentleman of the land?

We want to remind Bawumia that the Setup of the Creative Arts Agency can only be found in Act 1048 section 4, which is tilted The Governing Body of Agency, and it consists of

1. A board chairman nominated by his president 

2. 7 representatives from the domains of the Creative Arts Sector, of which at least 3 of them should be           women.

3. ⁠One representative from the following government ministries.

（i) Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture

（ii) Ministry of Trade 

（iii) Ministry Finance not

（iv) Office of Attorney-General

4. the Copyright Administrator.

And finally, Board Chairman 

and Executive Secretary appointed by the President.

The Creative Arts Agency can only be called “SETUP” after Section 4 of Act 1048 have been adhered to and until then FOCAP will continue reminding this government to do the needful and do away with the ILLEGALITIES.
