A 5 MILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT PULLED DOWN.

A 5 MILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT PULLED DOWN.

Sometimes, l wonder if truly the system truly believes in the creative arts sector or if they just pay us with lip service.

I am assuming the government is not in the know of this disgraceful act done to one of our biggest investors in the entertainment industry, Mr Leslie Quaynor, CEO of Fantasy Entertainment, limited (Fantasy Dome).

The demolition of Fantasy Dome at Trade Fair last Saturday is unfortunate and sad for the industry.  Documents I have cited indicate an interlocutory injunction not to touch the property until the final process or decision by the court.

A 5 million dollar investment project that will cost almost 25 million dollars currently is totally demolished without  any fear of mankind.

If we care to know:

1- We rehabilitated Kwame Nkrumah Park with an amount of 3.5 million dollars from the World Bank loan (40 million dollars in 2018) to improve the tourism environment and also develop sites and destinations.

2- Mark, okraku Mantey, deputy Minister of Tourism,  Arts & Culture also told us we are using between 500 to 600 thousand dollars to build one amphitheater. We are told is out of covid money by World Bank for the creative sector.

3- Government is seeking to build an extra 5 amphitheater theaters, which is captured in the 2024 budget of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and culture.

4- The  government told us (in 2020 manifesto ) that  " We will construct one of the biggest convention and exhibition centers in the world at the Ghana  Trade Fair company site la."

Just to mention a few, I got confused when l heard and saw pictures of how a massive investment is pulled down.

Mr Leslie Quaynor, l share in your pain, and l pray authorities and the courts see the need to get into this matter as soon as possible.

I am appealing to the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture to at least reach out to Mr Leslie Quaynor.

Kojo Preko Dankwa.
