Last Night, Despite opened a Car Museum in Accra with all the glamour of pre adverts, announcements and social media promo. Indeed it was a well planned event for the records as the list of guest of Honour included politicians, business moguls and socialites.
Cars mesuems generally are the preserve of vehicle manufacturer's to showcase the historical story of how the models developed till the present day. Indeed the story of Diamler, Toyota, Mazda; Chevrolet, GM, Ford, Scudamore, Nissan, Mistubishi, Opel, BMW, VW etc. is awash at their factory museums in their respective countries.
As beautiful as it was, what got me thinking was the business purpose knowing Despite as a business man and not a manufacturer. More importantly, thinking what model and make of car that the invited dignitaries like Ashantehene, Kuffour, Ibrahim etc. who graced the occasion have not seen aborad, owned, bought and driven over the years to the level of owning private Jet today or what news of a car model will so shock Wontumi to get himself out of EOCO cells by changing the numbers of the locks from 8 to 7 or 6.
I don't get and can't think far as to whether folks will fly from America or Europe to Ghana to visit or to just watch or the exac purpose. Is it that it's just the (B)lack (M)an's (W)ish as usual at play to show off his collections or a businessmodel which we don't really understand.
My excitement however is about the venue and vehicles for the purpose of music videos, movies and the craft of the creative industry. As to whether it'll be open to make use of the venue or permission to use them is a question Despite will have to consider.
On the flip side, I'm happy I didn't see the Current President, Attorney General, Ag. Chief Justice, EOCO Boss given the pursuit of past officials over the profligate waste of our national resources in the 8 years gone. We the citizenry are bent on seeing those politicians involved punished and our wasted funds retrieved. There's no softening of the grounds for the wickedness they perpetrated on us.
The Vhim Crew is always watching and we'll forever remain focused.
Before leaving the meseum matters with Ghana going more for the local home grown stuff we ask that Despite should find out from Kantanka, trace the only local Ghanaian Car assembled in the 1970's, ADOM to add to the collection. It may be worthy to also follow up on Nkulenu and his own NEAT FUFU as well, our best wishes for the effort though.
