YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA POST COULD HUNT YOU IN FUTURE-CYBERSECURITY AUTHORITY CAUTIONS STUDENTS  The Director General of the Cybersecurity Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, has advised students to be wary of their social media activities as it could leave regrettable footprints that could hunt them in the future. In an address read on his behalf at a Cybersecurity awareness event organised by the Dean of Students Affairs in collaboration with the Student Affairs Committee of Takoradi Technical University, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako, advised that online engagement can leave indelible digital footprints which can be accessed by universities, job recruiters and embassies, therefore students must be conscious of what they post and share on social media platforms.   "Everything you post, share, or engage with online, leaves a trace that can be accessed by university admission officers, marketing companies, job recruiters, embassies, etc. This digital trail can have far-reaching negative...

The Mysterious Absence of Chronixx: Jamaica’s Reggae Prodigy Gone Silent  Chronixx Once hailed as the successor to Bob Marley, Jamaican Reggae artiste Jamar Rolando McNaughton who is more commonly known as Chronixx has conspicuously faded from the public’s eyes, sparking widespread curiosity and concern among fans and industry insiders alike. With a career that skyrocketed with hits that resonated not only in Jamaica but across the globe, his sudden retreat from the music scene and major events in his homeland raises more questions than answers. Chronixx, a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, burst onto the Reggae scene with an energy and authenticity that captivated audiences worldwide. His songs, which rank among the most popular Reggae tracks globally, have amassed hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, establishing him as a cornerstone of the genre. His influence and potential led many to view him as the next torchbearer of Reggae music, following in the colossal footsteps of ...

BEFORE YOU RELEASE AN ALBUM OR EP, READ THIS…

Image
BEFORE YOU RELEASE AN ALBUM OR EP, READ THIS… Albums and EPs are not just collections of songs. Songs on an album or EP must all be geared towards an ultimate theme. This is exactly what is displayed in ‘Kofi oo Kofi EP’ by Kofi Kinaata. Pay attention to the chronology! Track 1 to Track 7 tell a simple story. The EP is about life from the cradle, mother’s love (Auntie Ama), hardship and the quest to make it in life (Abonsam), encounter with adversaries cloaked in the apparels of loved ones (Saman). ‘Kofi oo Kofi' also accentuates the tussle with finding love, something almost everybody can relate to (Effiakuma Broken Heart). All these form part of adulting! Meboa?  Falling in love again after broken heart, as demonstrated in 'Take Away', is symbolic of regaining one’s glory after being shattered by life’s woes (in Effiakuma Broken Heart). I call ‘Overthinking’, the last song on the EP, the 'nyansapow' of the entire project. It sums up the EP. ‘Overthinking' reit...

ILLEGAL MINING CAN BREED REBELS

Image
ILLEGAL MINING CAN BREED REBELS. The Lands belongs to the Chiefs, but the Minerals in them belongs to the government. A China man who comes in with a concession from the government can not be stopped by a chief in his village. Now, if our forest reserves and water bodies are being destroyed by these activities, we should blame no one but government. The citizens that reside in these villages will not sit while such activities go on from the top, so they'll also join in since they can't stop it. The norm is to go to school, find a job, and get paid via salary, but if there is an option to mine and get rich, why not. Due to the illegality of these activities, the stake and risk are very high. In fact, some believe that the death of some minners at a mining site brings more luck in finding more gold so you can imagine. These local miners also believe in black power for protection from other miners and even government. Some also acquire sophisticated weapons to protect themselves w...

AKYEM, HAUSA AND EWE WHEN TRENDY, MISSY HIPSY ANTOINNE IN REALITY

AKYEM, HAUSA AND EWE WHEN TRENDY, MISSY HIPSY ANTOINNE IN REALITY  How do we upgrade our tribal allegiance that is only activated by virtual provocation to one that consistently protect and defend where we are from?  The attachment most people have for their tribes nowadays is predominantly virtual, absent in reality. Asante by phone, English by breath. This is us. The only time people seem to remember where they are from is when there is a stroke of their ego by a careless statement or a deliberate attack on their tribe. They'll litter their communities at will, but let someone say their community is dirty and see the uproar. We are only proud of who we are when it's convenient. Honestly, I admit that the two did not exercise wisdom in the heat of the moment; they were too excited. Celestine, in particular, got carried away. She didn't say she hated Ewe names; she said she hated heavy names. Doku is an Ewe name; I doubt she'd have bothered to be called one. It is yet t...
