TEMA MAYOR ENGAGES PARENTS AND LEARNERS OF TMA DAY CARE AFTER PLANE CRASH INCIDENT.
March 24, 2026.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Ebi Bright, has held a stakeholder engagement with parents, teachers and learners of the TMA Day Care Nursery, Site 18, following the recent plane crash incident witnessed by the school community.
The meeting formed part of efforts by the Assembly to provide psychological first aid and emotional support to learners, teachers and parents affected by the incident.
Hon. Bright thanked all stakeholders gathered and solemnly paid tribute to the pilots who lost their lives, noting that their actions helped prevent a greater tragedy. She described their actions as an act of patriotism and sacrifice in service to the nation.
She used the occasion to stress the need for proper city planning and organisation, explaining that emergency situations require clearly designated open spaces where aircraft or emergency landings can be directed to avoid densely populated areas. She also emphasised that school compounds must always be kept clear and safe for emergency situations.
The Mayor emotionally hugged and commended the teachers of the Day Care who, on the day of the incident, managed the children calmly and ensured their safety.
She further expressed gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service, National Disaster Management Organisation, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, traditional leaders, parents, and the Mental Health Authority Ghana and Psychiatric Unit for their swift response and support services provided to the children and staff. She also thanked the President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for supporting and empowering mental health professionals to assist the victims.
