AMBASSADOR VICTOR EMMANUEL SMITH VISITS ROBINSON HELICOPTER COMPANY
As part of Ghana’s high-level investment and industrial outreach mission to California, H.E. Victor Emmanuel Smith, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, undertook a working visit to Robinson Helicopter Company in Torrance.
The engagement formed part of Ghana’s broader strategy to deepen partnerships with leading U.S. aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms in support of the country’s industrial transformation agenda.
Discussions focused on collaboration opportunities in helicopter supply, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, pilot and technician training, and long-term aviation servicing partnerships. The visit explored Ghana’s potential to serve as a regional aviation services hub for West Africa under AfCFTA, leveraging its political stability, reform momentum, and strategic geographic position.
The Ambassador highlighted Ghana’s growing aviation needs across oil and gas logistics, mining operations, emergency medical services, tourism, and national security—areas requiring expanded rotary-wing capacity and technical workforce development.
This initial engagement opened dialogue between Ghana and Robinson Helicopter Company on aviation cooperation, MRO and aviation technical Training collaboration.
The Ambassador presented Ghana as a potential West African helicopter servicing and distribution center, emphasizing technology and skills transfer in alignment with Ghana’s industrial value-addition and workforce capacity-building as well as strategic sector diversification with
expansion into high-value aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The visit represents a strategic step in Ghana’s economic diplomacy efforts to attract advanced industrial partnerships, promote technology transfer, and position the country as a competitive regional hub for aviation services in West Africa.
