Is The Gospel Fraternity showing less interest in TGMA? - Mr Enock Agyepong (CEO of Speech Production) Writes

The Gospel music genre plays an integral role in our industry and therefore in our annual Music Awards ie TGMA which has in effect produced some great Artists of the year including Joe Mettle and Diana Hamilton.

Strangely their participation in recent times have been on the decline and one wonders what the problems may be.

Last year Team eternity were billed to perform but never showed up and their excuse was nothing to write home about.

This year was worse when indeed they never showed up to pick any of their 3 awards on the night, I mean a group of over 10 musicians and not even one person showing up to pick an award is obviously not normal.

Joe Mettle who was also in the auditorium never climbed the stage to pick any of his 2 awards on the night. I mean Joe had one of the best Gospel songs last year and it would have been great to see him on stage as an inspiration to the next Generation.

Can we assume that they're beginning to see the awards more like a worldly event or they're just simply losing interest? It was beautiful seeing Piesie Esther on the red carpet and a delight watching Empress Gifty and Daughters of Glorious Jesus on stage and we all saw how exciting the crowd were.

Like I posited early, Gospel plays a major role in our industry and their numbers are very significant to the scheme so the organisers must do whatever it takes to get their full participation.
