RIPO 5th edition of painting



The opening clap of the 5th edition of the International Painting Meetings of Ouagadougou (RIPO), was held this Tuesday, February 13, 2024 in the Bilbalgho district within the grounds of the “Naanego Cultural Center. Arts professionals, the public and authorities were privileged witnesses to the opening ceremony.

“Trait d’union”, it is under this theme that the 5th edition of the Ouagadougou International Painting Meetings (RIPO) was held from February 13 to 18, 2024. Last Tuesday, February 13, 2024 within the “Naanego cultural center” , the Association for the Promotion of Plastic Arts (APAP) responsible for the project kept all its promises for the opening ceremony of RIPO 2024.


It was the Minister of State in charge of Communication and Culture Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, who officially opened the art biennial. For him, celebrating art also denotes a spirit of resilience. “I would like to salute all these artists and promoters who had confidence in their potential. This type of event will provide food for thought and understanding that art has no borders,” said the minister.


Listening to the president of the Suzanne Songa/Ouédraogo association, these RIPOs aim to promote living together. “Through the RIPOs, it will be a question of promoting cohesion and living together as a guarantee of peace. I would also like to salute all the partners who have believed in our project so far,” she said.


The godfather of the 5th RIPO and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Youssef Slaoui, praised the event. He affirmed that his country remains committed alongside Burkina Faso for this type of project which highlights art.

The 5th edition closes with a night dedicated to partners

The final clap of the Ouagadougou International Painting Meetings (RIPO) took place this Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Ouagadougou in the Bilbalgho district. It was with an evening entitled “Partners’ Night” that the event reached its climax. It was punctuated by the presentation of certificates of recognition and participation, as well as numerous artistic performances.

Making the visual arts a tool for promoting living together and social cohesion is the leitmotif of the Association for the Promotion of Plastic Arts (APAP), which carries the Ouagadougou International Painting Meetings (RIPO) project. Scheduled to be held from February 13 to 18, 2024, the visual arts biennial held its evening entitled “Partners’ Night” this Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Ouagadougou. Evening during which the merit of the artist partners was recognized.

Sponsors, partners and lovers of the arts were present at this party. The ceremony made it possible to award several prizes, certificates of recognition and participation to artists and resource people. For the RIPO honorary prizes, the winners are as follows:




1st prize: Amoako Peter (Ghana)
2nd prize: Folashade Rashidat Fagorusi (Nigeria)
3rd prize: Wilfried Sanou Bala (Burkina Faso)
