Photography(Art in general) is one of the most misunderstood crafts in this country and it's understandable because the early guys got a lot of fundamental things wrong, and that has dragged on till this day.

Did you know that if you hire a photographer, you only pay for their services and not rights to the images or work created?

What this means is they can put their logos or watermarks on the images, post them on social media or use them for advertising their brand with or without your permission. If you want full rights to the images, you have to pay for them separately. This is on the basis that rights of the image belongs to the creator and as clearly defined under creative rights.

Multinational companies know this so most often if they wish to keep things under wraps they pay for the right to the images. Right to images can cost as much as 5x what you pay for the photography service.

If you ask a photographer to take down photos of you hired them to take which they later posted on their social media pages, it's only done out of courtesy and not obligation.

Sorry I had to repost this again. Samuel Fahren Otoo brought the conversation up again.

I have a clause on my photography page, once you make a deposit it means you have agreed to all my terms and conditions. Your ignorance of this is no excuse .

However I hold back posting of clients work because I feel it's a personal engagement, I only post them in most cases if they ask me to or if it serves their best interest.
