Ghana DJ Awards 2022 moments
My Ghana DJ Awards2022 Xperience.
You'll rarely see me at events because I hardly go out. However, last night I wanted to chill small and Ghana DJ Awards22 was my destination.
My ticket said 8pm so l left home at 8:20pm with the message that I'll be back the next day so nobody should bother staying up for me.
I got to Silver Towers around 8:45pm expecting the show to start at 10pm Ghanaman time.
To my surprise the show had started already with interviews and yo! the Black Carpet was solidly looking Masculine with those mannequins. Wow Merqury Quaye en eye open brutal.
Got to the entrance with my Crew and was ushered into the VIP session and trust me the place was already full including the regular.
Fortunately, we located a cocktail session and that was our spot for the rest of the night.
Andy Dosty II was the MC and Matilda Hipsy was the Co Host. Charlie... Hmmm, no Comment on the Hypnotizing Hips.
The stage, light and sound were on point with less or zero technical hitches probably because it was being produced for television. Trust me, it was good.
Great performances from various Artist and the one that did it for me from the new skull was TseQa and he really used the opportunity to market himself very well.
The 10th anniversary of the Ghana DJ Awards came with lot of surprise artist for the night as well and one interesting thing also happened which didn't really surprise me but might have surprised the MC. Andy in introducing one big surprise Act for the night asked the question "what is the biggest song in Ghana right now" and the crowd went like Asibolango, then he asked again and they shouted Fa ne fom by DJ Azonto which I hadn't heard yet. Then he changed the question to who is the biggest Artist in Gh right now and the entire place was confused with different names till one voice in some corner said Black Sherif then he seconded and called Sherif onto the stage.
The crowd was excited to see him and they vibed to his vibe but I won't comment on his performance but will urge him to keep Soldiering On and stay focus till he really gets to the top.
On the Awards, the first impression you would have about it on the night was that it was credible. I believe most of the crowd were even predicting the winners correctly before they were mentioned so their expectations were met except for the students DJ of the year which some other students in our corner were complaining which is expected with school competitiveness.
By 12 at dawn me & my PA had had enough bottles at our spot with the intention of staying awake throughout the night but yo! Nature was messing with me Charlie my whole day of me moving from ABs funeral to radio stations doing the weekend punditry and then getting back home around 7pm only to prepare and go back to town for this event was having its effect and by 1am my eyes were heavy.
I literally begged my PA for us to leave because he had his camera and was having a good time but me yo! I was damn tired.
Driving back to Tema on the motorway was a different matter because we had to play loud music and chat on top of our voices to stay awake whiles driving.
Fortunately, my stubborn home folk was awake watching TV when I got back and started laughing at me because I couldn't stay throughout the night as I had bragged earlier before leaving the house. I told them not to worry since they're also growing coming and off to bed I went.
I woke up only to hear DJ Vyrusky had won the ultimate prize again! Well, I was rooting for Dj Faculty but it's all good Charlie. Just that next year they shouldn't add Vyrusky to the competition 😜 well that's on a lighter side.
My only issue was that it was not streamed live on social media unless someone can share a link but apart from that and also meeting some friends I'd blocked on social media and had to refriend I had a great night and will love to be there next year but probably at a bigger outdoor venue because of their crowd and they shouldn't forget the cocktail bar.
I'll end by adding that it will be great to bring the entire West African sub region on board after this 10th year so we can have more musical cultural exchange and take advantage of their Markets as well so we the Talent Managers can also benefit from it since the DJs are the legs of our Music.
Yo! I'm up again and will be going for my last event before the weekend ends and that's the Anwamoo Festival.
Just Hala when you see the Crew.
