JUDGEMENT DEBT LOOMS AT CREATIVE ARTS AGENCY- FOCAP.  Foundation Of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) has been following with keen interest the happenings at the Creative Arts Agency operating with an illegal CEO (Gyankroma Akuffo Addo).   Research done by FOCAP, reveals that the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) have not paid its staff working at the agency from 2017 till date.  This, if not taken care off will result in judgement debt for the nation.   Our findings has also revealed that the Finance Ministry had written to the Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture since April to formally employ these staff since they are not on their payroll since 2017,  yet been working with the CAA from the then Creative Arts Council.   The Ministry of Finance gave April as the deadline but the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture has since not done anything to resolve the situation.  It is indeed sad for our Creative Arts sector as government continu...

Copyright Office is a Complete failure under Madam Yaa Attafua - Focap The Copyright Office of Ghana is the mandated agency like any ministry arm of government that leads the activites of copyright in the country. Among others, it advices,  coordinates and facilitates the general copyright eco system which includes the work of the Collective organisations like Ghamro, ARSOG and Copy Ghana. Indeed, the fact is that the existense, operation and regulation of these Societies is upon the expertise, advice and oversight of the Copyright office.  The question however is that what is the state of the Copyright systems and particularly the Collective Management Societies in Ghana today. Partly the sum of all the issues of the industry, lack of direction, regulation and structure is the failure and abysmal performance of the copyright office. Today this office is a shadow with no action against piracy which was what put Ghana on the world map with regular action including the establish...

Manille Artist Night Starts from 5th August 2023 Speech Production a Music Label based in Tema in Collaboration with Hustle Hard Studios a Music Production house also based in Tema brings to you MANILLE ARTIST NIGHT. Tema has a lot of Musical Talents but lacks the platforms to showcase these talents. Back in the days when there was Kasahari with Dr Duncan on Adom 106.3 inside Community Two we all witnessed the many talents that were discovered including the likes of Sarkodie & Stonebwo etc who today are the leading faces in our Music Industry. Temafest was another platform that climaxed the year's musical activities but when the Station left Tema we obviously had to find an alternative. Now the only major shows in Tema are the ones organised by Mimlife & Nautical which happens only in December meaning throughout the entire year there is nothing significantly happening when it comes to music talents in Tema. It is on this background that Manille has decided to dedicate its v...

Are the Boomplays, Empires & other Distribution Labels becoming A Curse rather than a Blessing to our Local Music Industry?

Are the Boomplays, Empires & other Distribution Labels becoming A Curse rather than a Blessing to our Local Music Industry? By Enock Agyapong In every Music industry the news of a Major Label coming in is good news but in our case it seems it's becoming a Curse rather than a Blessing. The Music business just like any other business has a SUPPLY CHAIN as part of its Structure which leads to the marketing & distribution of the Product and in this case the Music. It starts from identifying a Talent and grooming it to becoming a household Brand to be marketed for Profit. All across the world we have indie labels grooming these Talents and marketing them to Major Labels for continuous business and I can give a good example of the Lynx Entertainment grooming the likes of Kidi & Kwami Eugene and marketing them to Empire for continuous business which still makes Lynx Entertainment the Managers of these Artist. Another good example is George M. Britton grooming Camidoh & par...
